So the Bloc Party/Kills show was amazing. It was sold-out, but one of our girls managed to wrangle VIP tickets from the tour manager at the last minute. The usual suspects were in attendence – Danny Masterson (with his sister), Trishelle from R.W. Vegas, and the random assortment of industry folk. The Kills were incredible (as usual), although the crowd seemed a little apprehensive – typical for what mainstream does with an insanely good and off the cuff rock duo. All eyes were on the band but no one was rocking out. When Bloc Party went out everyone went nuts and a softer, more pop-ish mosh pit circa 1991 started in front. Matt and Kele rocked out for the 45 minute set. At the afterparty we spotted Hillary Duff, the boys from Good Charlotte, Devon Aoki, Davey from AFI, Doug from Best Week Ever, and a few others as Cinespace packed the joint. Dim Mak bands Neon Blonde played (and the lead vocalist is a BOY in case anyone was wondering! Hello), United States of Electronica I missed because I was too busy chatting up Matt from Bloc Party but the highlight of the night was certainly The Rakes. Keep an eye out for this band. They are fantastic and amazing to watch.
Tonight is Mobius Band and ….Matsiyahu (WTF?) at the House of Blues. Yes Yes Can’t wait!
