About Nicole

Nicole Cifani is a writer, growth marketer, and creative operator based in Northern California. She has worked across both agency and in-house roles, specializing in growth for consumer and subscription-based businesses, and now works with brands and early-stage companies on marketing strategy, growth, and positioning.

Alongside her work in marketing, Nicole has built a long-running writing practice. She teaches Intro to Fiction and Poetry at The Writers Studio, and her work has appeared in Bryant Literary Review, Ghost City Review, El Portal, and elsewhere. She has also contributed to publications including Fast Company, Thrive Global, Yahoo’s As Heard On, Laist, Flavorpill, Indie Shuffle, The Daily Swarm, Seen All Over, Everwise, and Let’s Mend.

Earlier in her career, Nicole spent years in independent radio and music culture. She got her start in college radio at 17, later serving as Production Director at WBGU and working with ohio.fm, one of the earliest college stations to stream online. She went on to work with WERS at Emerson College, volunteer at KCRW, host a mix show on Moheak, and broadcast with KCHUNG in Los Angeles. As one half of the DJ duo Stranger Danger, she performed at venues including The Greek Theatre, The Hammer Museum, the Cooper Design Space, and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, and was named Hottest DJ by LA Weekly. She later served as Resident DJ for It’s A School Night in Williamsburg and hosted the musichifi podcast from 2009 to 2013.

Nicole studied at The Writers Studio’s Master’s Level program, California Jazz School, Reforge’s Growth Series, ITP Summer Camp at NYU, Emerson College, and The Ohio State University.
